კითხვები იმასთან დაკავშირებით, თუ რა გავლენას ახდენს კულტურული მემკვიდრეობის ტურიზმის ადგილობრივი ისტორიის საზოგადო აღქმაზე, არამხოლოდ ადგილობრივი კულტურის ფეტიშიზაციისა და ესენციალიზაციის საფრთხიდან, არამედ - უმცირესობათა ნარატივების უგულებელყოფიდანაც გამომდინარეობს. ასეთი ისტორიის იგნორირება განსაკუთრებით მაშინაა პრობლემატური, როდესაც კულტურული მემკვიდრეობა პოლიტიკური მიზნებით, წარსულის კონკრეტული ვერსიის თხრობისთვის გამოიყენება.
